St Helens welcome Huddersfield Giants to the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their push for the Super League playoffs.

Saints began round 22 in fourth and, if other results go their way this weekend, they could move up to third after Wigan Warriors' 10-6 defeat to Hull Kingston Rovers, which helped the Robins move one step closer to the League Leaders' Shield.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, are languishing in 11th place but back-to-back wins have given them hope that they can finish the campaign on a high.

St Helens vs Huddersfield Giants preview

Some sections of St Helens fans were questioning whether head coach Paul Wellens was the right man to lead the Saints only a few months ago.

But Wellens and the Red Vee have begun to answer their critics of late and they should be able to outmuscle struggling Huddersfield on Sunday.

After six defeats in nine games during March and April, Saints have turned a corner and have won nine of their last 11 matches, losing to only league leaders Hull KR and playoff rivals Leigh Leopards in that time.

And they should be confident of beating Huddersfield, who have lost their last 12 meetings with Saints and will be without influential half-back Tui Lolohea for Sunday's hop across the Pennines after he was ruled out for the season with a quadriceps injury.

Saints have been especially aggressive in defence recently, conceding just 34 points in their last eight outings, and they can further consolidate their position in the top six with a routine success over the Giants.
