Match preview

St Helens are 80 minutes away from their third consecutive Betfred Super League Grand Final and they can repel the Leeds Rhinos' charge to book their place at Old Trafford.

Reigning champions Saints are just 1-3 to get the job done having won their last eight meetings with the Headingley men.

The Red Vee thrashed the Rhinos 40-6 just three weeks ago while last season's meetings saw Saints run out winners by 40-8 and 48-0.

Things may not be as straightforward this time as Leeds have shown plenty of spirit in the closing weeks of the season.

Last week's 8-0 win over Wigan was a hard-fought battle and Richard Agar's men have also seen off Hull KR and Hull FC in recent weeks.

However, the Saints have shown they are a cut above most of those in the competition as they go in search of a title hat-trick, and Leeds may find this semi-final a step too far.

A ten-point handicap line looks well within reach for Kristian Woolf's outfit and they can set themselves on that familiar path to Old Trafford on October 9.
