Match previews

The Channel 4 cameras are in Warrington to put the spotlight on the Betfred Super League again and the Wolves are unlikely to fluff their lines against Wakefield.

Wire are looking to bounce back from two straight defeats and they will welcome the sight of Trinity at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Wakey haven't won at the venue since 2014, and 2022 has been a struggle with just one win from their opening five fixtures. That came against whipping boys Toulouse and they hardly blew away the French strugglers in an 18-6 victory.

Warrington have won three of their opening five but came up short in their dust-ups with title rivals St Helens and Catalans in their last two outings.

Saints restricted the Wolves to just two points last week but scores should be easier to come by against Wakefield who have conceded 100 points from five matches and scored just 74.

A home win is 2-11 and Wakey are 9-2 for a long-awaited victory here but the evens about Warrington winning by more than 14 points looks a better bet, and a handicap bet also looks the way to go in Toulouse.

Olympique have been well off the pace on their debut season in Super League, conceding almost 32 points per game in five straight defeats.

Saints, on the other hand, have been rampant, winning all five and look unstoppable in their quest for a fourth consecutive title.

However, Toulouse have shown a bit of fight recently, losing to Wakefield by just 12 points last week while almost stunning Wigan in a 29-28 defeat last time out on home soil.

Warrington ran out 32-18 winners when they pitched up in the south of France so there are reasons to be optimistic about the home side.

The French outfit get a 32-point start against the champions and that looks a tad on the big side with Saints weakened by injuries to several key men, including battering-ram Alex Walmsley.
