Leigh Leopards vs Wakefield Trinity preview

Leigh are warm favourites to tee up a semi-final showdown with champions Wigan next week, but Adrian Lam's men are unlikely to have things all their own way against spirited Trinity, who can be backed with a generous ten-point handicap start.

The pair have met three times already this term, with Leigh winning twice and Wakey once, and three of the last four meetings have been settled by eight points or fewer, the same margin as both of last season's playoff eliminators.

Wakey won 40-14 on their last visit to this venue in March but the Leopards have been far more fearsome since and finished the regular season with a flourish.

Lam's men won five on the bounce to claim third spot while Wakey finished with impressive wins over Salford and table-toppers Hull KR, so a competitive clash can be expected in front of a fervent crowd at the Leigh Sports Village.

That home support could prove decisive and the Leopards are fancied to edge their way closer to a possible first Grand Final appearance.
