Leeds Rhinos v Toronto Wolfpack match preview

Toronto Wolfpack began their Betfred Super League odyssey with defeat to Castleford at Headingley five weeks ago and life among the elite hasn't improved much for the Canadians as they return to the home of the Leeds Rhinos on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack have lost their first five games in the top flight and bookmakers aren't giving them too much chance of recording a first win in the big time against a resurgent Rhinos.

Leeds, too, began with an opening-round defeat at Headingley against Hull but they have responded with three wins of their own including a thumping 36-0 success over Warrington on home soil last week.

That victory came at a cost as full-back Jack Walker limped off with an ankle injury midway through the first half. But it didn't stop them piling on the points against the Wolves and, for all the doom and gloom that followed their defeat in round one, they will go top of the table for the time being if they win by at least five points.

Bookmakers clearly expect them to do just that having set a 20-point handicap.

Young Leeds centre Harry Newman has been rewarded for his excellent start to the campaign with inclusion in Shaun Wane's first England squad and Toronto will need to pay close attention to the rising star.

Newman has crossed for two tries in Leeds's opening four matches and looks a huge price at 12-1 to open the scoring and give Toronto's head coach Brian McDermott more headaches on his return to the club he led to unrivalled Super League success.
