Preview
Warrington used lockdown to iron out the inconsistencies that blighted their early-season displays and the Wolves could move top of the Betfred Super League with victory over Catalans Dragons on Friday night.
Steve Price's men have won all of their five league outings since the season resumed last month and last weekend booked their place in the semi-finals of the Coral Challenge Cup with a 20-18 success over St Helens.
The Wolves have strikepower all over the paddock but their defence has been the foundation of their resurgence. They have conceded just 132 points in 11 Super League outings, of which 36 came during a miserable February night at Leeds.
It's hard to argue with bookmakers making them heavy favourites to see off the Dragons but the capable French side can keep pace with a ten-point handicap start.
Three of Warrington's last five wins have been two points or fewer and there is enough vibrancy to Catalans' attack - which averages more than 28 points per game - for them to hurt the Wolves.
Wigan are another side with an eye on top spot.
The Warriors must better Warrington's result or beat Wakefield by a big enough margin should the Wolves defeat Catalans.
Adrian Lam's side missed out on both major finals last season but, the odd blip notwithstanding, look like they mean business in 2020.
Wigan have won five of their six matches in all competitions since the resumption with a shock 34-18 reverse to strugglers Hull KR their sole defeat in that time.
That sequence began with a narrow 23-22 success over Friday's opponents Wakefield, who remain winless since returning to action.
Injury-hit Trinity have been nilled twice in that run, by Catalans and Warrington, and bookmakers are expecting another tough evening with a 16-point handicap line set.
With that in mind, a play in the first tryscorer market is advised with Wigan winger Joe Burgess a likely candidate. Burgess has featured only five times this season due to injury but has scored a try in each of them, including in last week's cup rout of Hull.
