Salford Red Devils have made a miserable start to the Betfred Super League season and things are unlikely to get any better when they head to the south of France to take on Catalans Dragons.

Salford have scored just just ten points across two league defeats to St Helens and Hull, shipping 64 points in the process.

A morale-boosting 68-4 win over Widnes Vikings in the Betfred Challenge Cup last week offered some respite but this is a huge step in class for Salford who have won just one of their five trips to the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Perpignan.

The Dragons have yet to hit their straps but saw off Hull KR 29-28 in an opening-round golden-point victory before backing that up with a more comfortable 20-10 win at Huddersfield in round two.

Last week's 26-6 cup win over Wakefield highlighted the Dragons' defensive strength and suggests that they can stand firm against the Red Devils and cover a 12-point handicap.

Points have been fairly easy to come by for the Dragons, who have spread around the scoring with nine different tryscorers in their opening three games.

Captain Benjamin Garcia has crossed the whitewash in both of the Dragons' league matches and at 7-2 he looks good value to touch down once again.
