Castleford Tigers vs Huddersfield Giants predictions

Castleford head coach Danny McGuire called some of the refereeing decisions that went against the Tigers last week "pathetic", but he will be heartened by what he saw from his side against champions Wigan.

Cas were denied a fifth win of the season by a late try from Liam Farrell as they were beaten 26-20, but it was an excellent response from McGuire's men following a 48-0 home hiding at the hands of Hull KR the previous week.

A date with Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield is much more manageable and the Tigers will fancy completing a league double over the Giants after an 18-point victory at the John Smith's Stadium in April.

Huddersfield failed to build on their win at Warrington, just their second of the year, last week in the south of France, where they were nilled by a Catalans side winning for the first time since April.

Worryingly for Giants head coach Luke Robinson, four of the Dragons' five tries were scored around the posts, an area Cas's forwards could target when they get a sniff off the tryline.

Tigers prop Tom Amone has added steel to Castleford's pack since his mid-season arrival from the Canterbury Bulldogs, and he was no stranger to getting over the whitewash for former club Leigh Leopards.

Amone crossed for the tryline 12 times in the 2023 and 2024 campaigns for Leigh and he opened his account for Cas in last month's 22-14 win at Hull FC.

At 7-2, the Aussie looks a fair price to break through Huddersfield's defence on Thursday.
