Thursday's Betfred Super League predictions

Leigh Leopards can secure their Super League playoff place with a victory over Castleford Tigers on Thursday and that huge incentive should result in a comfortable home victory at the Leigh Sports Village.

There are just four rounds of the regular season remaining and fifth-placed Leigh look to have already done enough as they are five points clear of sixth-placed Hull FC and seven points better off than Wakefield who are in seventh.

Finishing as high as possible is the main aim for the top five teams now, as they look to secure an easier route to the Grand Final.

Leigh were challenging top-two sides Hull KR and Wigan Warriors but defeats to Hull FC and Leeds have seen them lose ground at a crucial time, although they managed to get back on track with a 38-6 victory over crisis club Salford last week.

That fixture came at a timely moment for Adrian Lam's side and this clash with Castleford Tigers will also come as some relief.

With just five wins all term, Cas are being kept off bottom spot only due to Salford's off-field misery and the end of the season can't come soon enough for a Tigers side who gave up the fight weeks ago.

They are on a four-match losing streak in which they have scored just 16 points and another heavy loss can be expected at Leigh.

The Leopards have won five of their last six meetings with Cas, the other finished 28-all, and they should extend that record on Thursday.

A chunky handicap of 28 points has been set, but Cas have been beaten by margins of 34, 58, 30 and 40 points in their last four outings, so a determined Leigh side on home soil should cover that mark with some comfort.
