Hull missed the chance to reduce the gap between themselves and Warrington at the top of the Betfred Super League but the Wolves may struggle to capitalise when they visit Catalans Dragons this afternoon.

The Black & Whites’ 15-4 defeat to Wigan on Thursday was great news for the Wolves, who are looking to seal second spot before the playoffs in just over a month.

They were already in good spirits after clinching a place in the Coral Challenge Cup final with a semi-final triumph over Hull last weekend.

However, it’s 10-11 that they maintain the feelgood factor with a win in Perpignan today but that price looks a tad on the short sign given their recent struggles against these opponents.

Steve Price’s men lost on their last trip to the south of France – a narrow 23-22 defeat in March - and prior to that the Dragons got the better of the Wolves 20-14 in last August’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

Warrington’s away form is decent – they have won seven of their 11 Super League road trips this season – but they lost last time out in the league at Castleford and with temperatures set to be around 32C at kick-off, they could be made to sweat in the Dragons’ den.

Catalans are never easy to take on at home and they have their own playoff aspirations to take care of.A win would take them level with Wigan in fourth place and they are are boosted by the returns of Greg Bird, Kenny Edwards and Samisoni Langi.

Josh Charnley and Lama Tasi miss out for the visitors, who have lost their last two league matches, and 11-10 about the home side looks a decent wager.

The French outfit have won seven of their 11 home matches and have taken the scalps of St Helens, Wigan, Leeds and the Wolves on home soil this season. They love to show they can mix it with the big boys.

Taking on the Wolves is never done lightly especially with the likes of Blake Austin and Bryson Goodwin in their ranks.

The pair have bagged 25 tries between them this season with Goodwin in particularly good form recently and the 13-8 he scores again looks worth a dart.
