Renegades look set to clinch final spot

Absence of in-form Alex Carey is major blow for Adelaide Strikers

Adelaide Strikers secured a home semi-final thanks to a comfortable win over Melbourne Renegades on January 22 but bookmakers rate the Renegades slight favourites for the rematch at the Adelaide Oval.

The Strikers are weakened by the absence of wicketkeeper and opening batsman Alex Carey, who scored 100 in their last home game but is unavailable after being called up to Australia's Twenty20 squad.

Carey has scored 425 runs this season – Colin Ingram is next on the Strikers' chart with 262 – and his absence boosts the Renegades' chances of reaching the final.

The Renegades responded to their defeat in Adelaide with victories over Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat and pacemen Kane Richardson and Chris Tremain shared 13 wickets in those wins.

Early strikes could really test Adelaide's batting unit and the Renegades have the all-round quality to progress.
