Red Bulls set to host thriller against attacking Los Angeles side
Bradley Wright-Phillips has been clinical this term
Brittle defences and barnstorming attacking armouries make a goalfest likely when New York Red Bulls host expansion side Los Angeles FC.
With the home side having lost two and won three of their last five matches and LAFC following up a 3-2 US Open Cup win with a 5-1 defeat to Minnesota, neither side are producing consistent results and backing goals could be the way to go.
The match at the Red Bull Arena will feature two of Major League Soccer’s most prolific teams. While New York have notched in 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions, Los Angeles have fired just two league blanks all campaign.
New York’s ever-reliable Bradley Wright-Phillips is part of the chasing pack behind Atlanta’s Josef Martinez in the MLS goalscoring charts, with 14 league goals, while Adama Diomande (nine), Carlos Vela (eight) and Diego Rossi (six) have been consistent in the final third for the visitors.
Over 3.5 goals has landed in six of Los Angeles’s last seven matches in all competitions, with the same bet coming through in two of New York’s last four games, and it looks a value option in the first meeting between the sides.
