Rabbitohs can crush decimated Titans

Gold Coast have big problems

Titans coach Neil Henry

Premier Sports, 10.50am Friday

South Sydney Rabbitohs and Gold Coast Titans are locked on ten points apiece on the NRL ladder but it's not hard to see why the Bunnies are 1-3 to emerge victorious when the sides clash at ANZ Stadium.

Injuries and State of Origin selection have decimated the Titans' line-up for the trip to Sydney and coach Neil Henry has been forced to make nine changes to the 21-man squad he named for last week's abject 34-12 defeat to the Warriors.

The fact that Henry is set to field his tenth different left centre-wing partnership in 14 outings, and that back-rower Chris McQueen will fill in at stand-off, highlights just how stretched the Titans have been.

Four of their 19-man squad have yet to feature in the NRL this term and Will Zillman makes his first start at full-back for a year. Such disruption is far from ideal preparation.

South Sydney are hardly flying having lost their last three matches but there were signs that they are heading in the right direction in last week's 24-18 defeat at fourth-placed Brisbane.

They showed great fortitude to battle back from 12-0 down after the first quarter and were excellent in the second half, commanding a greater share of possession and territory.

In contrast to the disruption facing the Titans, Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire is able to name the same 17 who were defeated by the Broncos and that continuity could prove crucial.

A general ten-point handicap line has been set by the layers but at greater odds, a home win by 11 to 20 points looks the best value.
