Prolific Greg Eden can ensure Tigers remain a threat

Tom Lineham can challenge in top tryscorer battle

Greg Eden scored 38 tries for Castleford in Super League last season

Castleford lit up Super League XXII so it was no surprise to see Tigers players claiming the big individual honours.

The competition’s leading pointscorer Luke Gale was named Man of Steel and Greg Eden’s 38 tries put him 17 clear of his nearest rival.

Bookmakers are sceptical that the flying winger will repeat the feat offering 8-1 against him topping the try charts again.

It’s possible that Eden may spend some games at full-back but even so the price is too big to be missed and so is the 20-1 about Tom Lineham.

The winger has been nowhere near his best since joining Warrington from Hull in 2016 but has still touched down 31 times in 40 games.

He topped the charts for the Wolves last year and looks a good bet to do so again at 2-1.

It’s no surprise to see Aussie superstar Ben Barba heading the market for Man of Steel. He could well reward favourite backers but two of his teammates offer better value.

New captain James Roby will be the man lifting the silverware if Justin Holbrook’s team return to the winner’s enclosure in 2018 and the all-action hooker is always in the frame for individual honours.

He looks overpriced at 20-1 and so does Alex Walmsley at 18s as the England star looks set for another strong season.

And, having tipped Ben Currie for the past two seasons only to see his hopes wrecked by injury, the Warrington star is included in the Racing Post Sport portfolio once more at 20-1.

It may be worth chancing St Helens centre Mark Percival at 8-1 to end Gale’s three year run as top pointscorer. With Saints expected to be more expansive this year, he should get more conversion chances.

And Danny Houghton looks nailed on in the top tackler market at 7-4. The new Hull captain has topped the charts for the last three years and if he stays injury-free he should do so again.
