Pressure building on Southampton boss Pellegrino

Stoke manager Mark Hughes remains odds-on in the Premier League next-manager-to-go betting despite reports that he will stay in charge of the Potters for Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie at Coventry.

Hughes's side have slipped into the relegation zone for the first time this season and their next league match is a daunting trip to Manchester United.

While Hughes gets at least one more game to turn Stoke's fortunes around, there is growing uncertainty over the future of Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

Southampton's winless sequence extended to nine games on Tuesday as they lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

Pellegrino is the clear second favourite to be the next top-flight manager out of a job and could do with a change of fortune on Saturday when Southampton travel to Fulham in the FA Cup.

Andy Carroll bagged his first two goals of the season as West Ham won 2-1 at home to West Brom on Wednesday but still has a long way to go before he can think about reviving his England career.

The 28-year-old is 8-1 with Coral to make Gareth Southgate's 2018 World Cup squad.

Liverpool are facing another battle to hold on to Philippe Coutinho and attention is switching to who may replace the Brazilian at Anfield.

Ladbrokes are offering prices on several players joining the Reds in 2018, including Premier League duo Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Riyad Mahrez, who are 4-1 and 6-1 shots respectively to make the switch to Anfield.
