Team news

Manchester United
Defender Phil Jones looks set to again miss out but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer otherwise has a near fully-fit squad. Fringe player Axel Tuanzebe is the only other likely injury absentee.

Bournemouth
Top-scorer Callum Wilson serves the second game of his two-match suspension after picking up ten yellow cards. Charlie Daniels and Simon Francis remain out with knee injuries and Andrew Surman faces a late fitness test.

Match preview

Eddie Howe's Bournemouth side have been in dismal form since the restart of the Premier League and now the Cherries face a daunting trip to red-hot Manchester United.

The Red Devils have won their last two league outings by a 3-0 scoreline - at home to Sheffield United and at Brighton - and the United squad is starting to shape up menacingly after a stop-start beginning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Old Trafford reign.

It is now 16 games in all competitions since Manchester United last lost a match and they have kept 11 clean sheets during that run. And that sequences of results looks all the more impressive given that it includes two victories over Manchester City - both to nil - a 2-0 defeat of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a trio of draws against tricky opponents in Wolves at home and Tottenham and Everton away.

It is quite a turnaround for Solskjaer, who was favourite in the Premier League sack race as recently as late January. And while the return to form and fitness of key men Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have offered the Norwegian manager a huge boost since the restart, the evolution had been picking up in pace ever since the January arrival of classy midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese playmaker settled in almost instantly, bringing quality and confidence to a midfield that previously offered plenty of graft but precious little craft. Bolstered by the calm experience of the often-underrated Nemanja Matic, the exciting talent of Mason Greenwood and reliable goal threat of Anthony Martial, United are starting to shape up as a seriously potent attacking unit.

Defensive concerns remain and there is a sense that United can be got at by opponents brave enough to do so, but a brittle Bournemouth side would be foolhardy to rush headlong into any United traps.

The visiting Cherries went into lockdown in serious trouble but have come out of it in turmoil. Four successive defeats have dealt a hammer-blow to their survival hopes and the depths to which their confidence and form has sunk was illustrated last time out in a crushing 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle.

The lack of fight and belief against an improving but relatively limited Newcastle outfit left Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe looking in a state of shock and it would take a dramatic reversal in form for the Cherries to avoid their five-year stay in the Premier League coming to an end this month.

Key stat

Manchester United have won six of their last ten games by three or more goals
