Pouille should justify his top-seed status
Hungary will host an ATP World Tour tournament for the first time following the switch from the former event in Bucharest and talented Frenchman Lucas Pouille could enjoy the marked step down in class.
The top seed was a beaten semi-finalist in Monte Carlo by Albert Ramos-Vinolas last week and being labelled the man to beat may spur the youngster on.
Pouille's game has gone from strength to strength since winning his maiden title in Metz last year and supplied with his favoured surface should see him go deep into the tournament.
A bye in the first round will make it easier for the Frenchman to overcome his recent exertions in Monte Carlo and with the circuit's bigger names in action in Barcelona, this is the perfect chance for Pouille to step up to the plate.
Fabio Fognini may provide Pouille with his toughest test were they to meet in the last four but the Italian lacks consistency and tends to peak in the summer months.
