Portimonense enjoyed a solid campaign on their return to the Portuguese top flight last term, comfortably steering clear of the relegation places, and they look up to giving Boavista a game in their opening contest of the new season.

Solid home form was the foundation of Antonio Folha's side's success. They lost just seven of their 17 home league matches, and six of those defeats came against teams who ended the season in the top seven positions in the Primeira Liga.

On their own patch, against teams of a simlar standing to themselves, Portimonense are more than capable of causing problems.

Boavista finished seven points ahead last season but their performances on the road were horrendous. The Panthers won just two of their 17 away league fixtures and those victories came against the two relegated sides.

Boavista found the net just 11 times in away games last term and it's hard to see their goalscoring worries being eased given their summer transfer activity.

Jorge Simao has brought in goalkeeper Rafael Bracalli, midfield man Nwankwo Obiora, who has just one senior goal in his career, and forward Andre Claro, who netted just three times in 22 appearances for relegated Estoril last season.

Portimonense were the fifth-highest scorers in the Portuguese top flight last term and they look worth backing to beat Boavista without conceding.
