Mansfield should claim vital victory at struggling Shrimps

Morecambe have been defeated in 12 home Sky Bet League Two matches this season - only basement boys Leyton Orient have lost more - and the Shrimps may suffer another reverse against playoff-chasing Mansfield at the Globe Arena.

Just three points separate Mansfield from the top seven but they need a win this afternoon because their run-in looks really tough.

Six of the Stags' last eight games are against teams in the top ten, so it is imperative that they don't drop points against 16th-placed Morecambe, who are highly unlikely to go up or down.

Mansfield had been having a problem scoring goals but they ended a four-match drought last weekend with a well-deserved 2-0 victory at home to Carlisle.

They have been dominating games, winning the shot count in all of their last six matches, but haven't been anywhere near clinical enough in front of goal.

However, last weekend's victory is likely to have boosted confidence and they should be feeling happier than their hosts, who are seeking to avoid a sixth successive defeat.

Cash-strapped Morecambe have done well to stay out of the relegation issue but they are showing signs of mental and physical fatigue and the end of the season cannot come soon enough.

Bury v Fleetwood
Bury have not played like a relegation-threatened team since Lee Clark took over as their manager in mid-February and can edge further away from the drop zone by defeating promotion-chasing Fleetwood at Gigg Lane.

Clark has steered Bury to four wins, two draws and one defeat but there is no room for complacency with the Shakers only four points clear of the bottom four in Sky Bet League One.

Hosting third-placed Fleetwood will not be easy. However, Bury have been performing well against the promotion-chasing sides.

They triumphed 3-0 over Bristol Rovers in their last home match and dug out a 0-0 draw at Millwall last Saturday, restricting the Lions to just four shots on target.

Bury have kept three clean sheets in a row and are far more resilient than they were earlier in the season.

They have shipped 64 league goals this term, the second-highest total in the league, but only four of those were conceded in their last nine fixtures.

Fleetwood could be the latest team to discover that Bury are a tougher nut to crack than they were earlier in the campaign and their chances have been reduced by injuries to key players.

Wingers Jimmy Ryan and Martyn Woolford are expected to miss out again and there are doubts over strikers Devante Cole and Wes Burns, who have not featured in the last two matches.

Wycombe v Notts County
Wycombe are one of several teams hoping to squeeze into the Sky Bet League Two playoffs but their hopes could fade with a failure to defeat improving Notts County at Adams Park.

Nine of Wycombe's 15 league wins have come at home but their home fans have endured a frustrated period in 2017.

Wanderers have won just one of the last seven home fixtures and they are up against a County side who are growing in confidence.

The Magpies have lost only two of their last nine games away to high-flying Stevenage (3-0) and Doncaster (3-1).

They won 1-0 at home to Barnet last Sunday despite the 11th- minute dismissal of winger Mark Yeates and are showing enough resilience to suggest they are capable of avoiding defeat at Wycombe.

Cambridge United v Stevenage
Stevenage have climbed from 15th to fourth in League Two over the last two months and can maintain their assault on the automatic promotion places by winning at Cambridge.

Last Saturday's superb 3-0 success at home to Portsmouth was Stevenage's ninth win in 11 games.

They are playing as well as any team in the division and have a great chance of toppling mid-table Cambridge, who have lost nine of their 19 home league matches.
