Tough conditions could leave top two vulnerable
Hossler and Spaun lead the way
Sky Sports Golf, 8.30pm Sunday
Beau Hossler shot the round of the day on Saturday at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and the 22-year-old will head into the final day at TPC Summerlin with a share of the lead.
Hossler carded a brilliant five-under-par 66 to join JJ Spaun at the top of the Las Vegas leaderboard and bookmakers can't split the pair, who are both available to back at 5-2 as they pursue US Tour honours for the first time.
Tony Finau is three back at six under while Tom Hoge, Gary Woodland, Patrick Cantlay and Chesson Hadley, the ante-post recommendation of Racing Post Sport's Ian Wilkerson, all four behind the leaders.
While the top two have obvious claims, neither makes much appeal at the prices. Gusts of more than 30mph troubled the players on moving day and, while Hossler handled them marvellously, he might struggle to go low again with a title on the line.
Spaun started his third round with three bogeys in his opening five holes. The conditions got to him and so, it appears, did the pressure of frontrunning.
With the wind set to whip around Summerlin once again, there's potential for someone to come from off the pace if the front two falter.
Finau is the obvious choice. The 16-1 pre-tournament favourite has form figures reading 2-26-11 this season and he is clearly in great touch. But 9-2 is a short enough price given the class of player lurking behind him.
Hadley blew a winning chance last week but the 30-year-old keeps knocking on the door. He has a chance of at least forcing his way into the top three at double-figure odds.
Threeball punters are pointed towards JT Poston in the 5.50pm match when he tees off alongside Brian Stuard and William McGirt.
Poston enjoyed a consistent, if unspectacular, rookie season on the 2016-17 PGA Tour last season, making 20 cuts and posting four top-25 finishes. He's not flashy but he rarely throws in a bad round so expect him to grind out another score around level par.
In tough conditions he could still go lower than his playing partners and 11-4 looks a fair price.
