Swedish star should show his class in North Carolina
Stenson and Schniederjans can both down their partners
Day three
A second-round 61 propelled Ryan Armour into a share of the lead at the Wyndham Championship alongside former champion Webb Simpson at Sedgefield Country Club.
Armour, who won the Web.com Tour Panama Claro Championship in 2016, is a 14-1 shot to claim a first main tour title with Simpson 11-4 second favourite.
Former Open Champion, and highest-ranked player in the field, Henrik Stenson is a shot off the lead and the general 5-2 favourite for the title and 4-7 to see off Vaughan Taylor in the 6.55pm twoball.
Although a short price, that could prove to be good business given Taylor's recent weekend travails. The American has broken 70 just once in his last 11 third-round attempts and while Stenson hasn't been at his imperious best this season, he has been progressing nicely over the last few weeks at the Open, WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and USPGA Championship - three tournaments of a much higher class than the Wyndham.
Double up the Swede with rising US star Ollie Schniederjans who should get the better of Hunter Mahan in the preceding match.
Mahan has made the cut for only the second time since the beginning of July while Georgia Tech graduate Schnierderjans has five top-tens to name this season.
Recommendation
H Stenson (4-7) & O Schniederjans (8-11)
1pt double Hills
