Jon Rahm hardened from 4-1 to 5-2 at the top of the Spanish Open betting after opening with an excellent round of 67 at Centro Nacional de Golf, Madrid.

Rahm made a slow start but eagled his ninth hole and followed up with three more birdies to reach five under par, sharing second place, one behind Marc Warren. The leader, who has been badly out of form this season, was available at 225-1 ante-post.

Second-round threeball punters should consider Rahm, who looks a more than fair price to defeat Andrew Johnston and Rafael Cabrera-Bello for the second day running (12.55pm tee time).

Rahm made a sluggish start after his trek from Augusta, but settled nicely on his second nine and is clearly the man to beat over the next three days.
