Jose Mourinho should make Man United tough to beat
Warnock or Mark Hughes better bets in Premier League sack race
What’s your best bet of the weekend?
Fulham to win at Cardiff. Neil Warnock and Slavisa Jokanovic are two managers under pressure yet in terms of potential their clubs are chalk and cheese.
I liked Fulham when they came up and, despite a slow start, I still like them. I think they’ve got far more to come and the same cannot be said about Cardiff – it’s going to be a long, hard season for the Bluebirds.
Which favourites are most vulnerable?
Liverpool are far too short at Huddersfield. The Reds have some injury worries, are winless in four and even on their previous winning run they looked scratchy against Brighton and Leicester.
The word I’ve got from someone close to David Wagner is that he’s really happy with how his side are playing, reckons they’ve trained on from last year and just need some luck.
Where is the value at Stamford Bridge?
Not Chelsea at odds-on. I don’t see Chelsea losing but I also don’t see Manchester United getting rolled over.
There’s going to be a spring in Jose Mourinho’s step after the comeback win over Newcastle and that has got to transmit through to the players. United ought to be at their strongest here and I foresee a low-scoring contest.
Who will be the first Premier League manager to leave?
Jose Mourinho is a poor favourite. They’ve had plenty of opportunities to get rid of him and haven’t, so why do it now? I’d be splitting stakes on Neil Warnock and Mark Hughes.
Cardiff look out of their depth and I’m not sure Warnock can turn it around. Hughes bought himself some time keeping Southampton up but they are continuing to flatline.
Is the Nations League better than the old international friendly programme?
I had my doubts but now I’m a fan. I’ve covered a few games for TV and they’ve been excellent. I’m at last excited again watching international football.
I like how the Nations League factors into Euro 2020 qualifying. Northern Ireland and Iceland made it to the Euros – they were never going to win it but nor did they let themselves down, so why not Macedonia or Georgia?
Give us a winner in this week's Champions League games
I quite like Dortmund at home to Atletico but I prefer Galatasaray at home to Schalke, who aren’t in a good place.
They’ve crawled off the bottom of the Bundesliga but aren’t scoring any goals.
The Turks have won all their home games this season, domestically and in Europe, including a 3-0 hammering of Lokomotiv Moscow.
