Jason McAteer's football betting advice for the weekend
Home woes could leave Southampton vulnerable to Burnley
1 What's your best bet of the weekend?
Liverpool are primed for the final push and while some teams have asked a few questions of them, I don’t think Norwich will. Nicely rested and with pretty much everyone fit, I can see Liverpool cruising to a 3-0 victory at Carrow Road.
2 Which favourites look the most vulnerable?
I could give Burnley a chance at Southampton, who have the worst home record in the Premier League. At the very least they can get a draw. It has been a really solid run of form for Burnley with those wins over Leicester and Manchester United and a draw against an improving Arsenal team.
3 Where is the value in Chelsea v Manchester United on Monday?
I’ve got to say Chelsea. It’s a clash of managers trying to do much the same thing, building a future around young talent – I just think Frank Lampard is doing it much better than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. There’s inconsistency with both of them but United don’t have much of an away record.
4 Who wins the Champions League?
Liverpool are in such a strong position because of how well they are doing in the Premier League. I look at all the other teams around Europe and don’t think there’s anyone that Liverpool can’t beat.
5 And how about the Europa League?
Inter have emerged as a real danger again in Serie A under Antonio Conte and if they can see off Ludogorets and get a nice draw in the last 16, they’ve probably got the squad to be able to give it a real go.
