Exeter v Sutton Utd

Exeter's classy 4-0 win at Scunthorpe last Saturday was one of the standout EFL performances of the weekend and the Grecians should follow it up with a victory over newly promoted Sutton United at St James Park.

Sutton are starting to feel more at home in League Two surroundings after back-to-back wins at home to Stevenage and Hartlepool which have seen them rise from bottom to 15th.

However, their season is going to be a learning experience and could suffer a reality check at the hands of the Grecians, who have recovered strongly since a slow start to the campaign.

Exeter manager Matt Taylor had to deal with an early-season injury crisis but key players have been returning to the fray and performances and results are picking up.

Taylor's trio of attacking midfielder Matt Jay plus forwards Jevani Brown and Sam Nombe have the potential to be as potent as anything in the division and each of them was heavily involved in last weekend's success at Glanford Park.

Jay popped up with the first two goals against Scunthorpe, both set up by Brown, while Nombe laid on the third for highly-rated midfielder Josh Key.

Exeter are up to ninth - their highest position of the season – but are aiming higher and their recent surge can continue.

Accrington v Wigan

Second-placed Wigan have dealt superbly with a difficult start to the League One season and can pass another stern test at Accrington.

It would have been understandable had Wigan's new-look squad took a bit of time to settle down but they started with a narrow 2-1 loss at Sunderland and have not lost since.

Last Saturday's 2-1 triumph at home to Doncaster was the Latics' third in succession and they look the likelier winners against Stanley, who are a point worse off having played one game more.

Cheltenham v Oxford

Promotion-chasing Oxford are still waiting for their first away win of the League One season but it could arrive at mid-table Cheltenham.

A clash of styles is in store as Cheltenham look to keep things simple and Oxford are likely to stick with their more expansive passing style.

Cheltenham have shown they can compete at this level and registered a 1-1 draw against MK Dons in their last home game despite a meagre 26 per cent share of possession.

They were let off the hook by some poor MK Dons finishing that day, but Oxford are likely to be more ruthless and can walk away with the points.

Gillingham v MK Dons

Fifth-placed MK Dons have had to settle for three draws on their League One travels but they may have the edge over Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium.

The Dons lacked a cutting edge on their last road trip – a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham when attacking trio Mo Eisa, Max Watters and Troy Parrott were unavailable.

However, Watters and Parrott are in the frame to face the Gills and can make sure there is some punch at the end of the Dons' intelligent approach play.

Gillingham are not easy to play against on home soil but they have scored just six goals in six league matches and could find themselves outgunned.

Bristol Rovers v Leyton Orient

Joey Barton is under huge pressure in the Bristol Rovers hotseat and he is unlikely to receive any respite from Leyton Orient, who are this weekend's visitors to the Memorial Stadium.

Rovers slipped to third from bottom in League Two after last Saturday's 1-0 loss at injury-hit Hartlepool and another defeat looks likely against improving Orient, who are chasing a third successive victory.

First scorer

Jake Beesley Mansfield v Rochdale

Beesley showed off his aerial prowess with two superb headers in Rochdale's 3-2 success at Port Vale a fortnight ago and could enjoy himself against struggling Mansfield, who have been poor at defending their penalty box.
