Chris Waddle's Saturday Jury answers on the weekend's football
Jose Mourinho set to have an immediate impact for Tottenham
What's your best bet of the weekend?
When I looked at West Ham v Tottenham earlier in the week, I thought it would be a dreary, low-scoring game between two out-of-form sides and probably tight. But Mourinho’s arrival at Tottenham has changed my view and I fancy the new man to get off to a winning start.
Which favourites look most vulnerable?
Aston Villa at home to Newcastle. I love the way Villa approach their football under Dean Smith. But while they are great with the ball, they can be less convincing without it and I think this match sets up nicely for Newcastle, who will soak up the pressure and look to launch on the counter.
Will Jose Mourinho be a success at Spurs?
Spurs are investing in someone who is about to transform a nearly club into a winning club and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he hit the ground running this season. Top four? Don’t bet against it. It won’t always be a smooth ride but I bet it will be successful.
Where do you see Mauricio Pochettino going next?
Mauricio Pochettino won’t be out of work for long. Man United have never made any secret of the fact that they wanted Pochettino, Bayern Munich have to be tempted, he’s got links with Paris
St-Germain and obviously there’s the lure of Spain. He can do well anywhere.
Give us a winner on the midweek coupon
Jose Mourinho to get off to the perfect start in front of Tottenham’s fans by beating Olympiakos well in the Champions League. Spurs can wrap up qualification by beating the Greeks and I can see a well-organised side winning and keeping a clean sheet.
