Nuremberg have the cutting edge to overpower St Pauli
BT Sport 3, 7.30pm Monday
Nuremberg have scored five goals and taken four points from their opening two league games and they can boost that tally against an injury-weakened St Pauli side.
These are two mid-table teams who are level on points at this early stage of the campaign.
St Pauli came away from Nuremberg's Max Morlock Stadium with a 2-0 win last season, and they have won their last two home games to nil in the league and cup.
But striker Aziz Bouhaddouz is set to miss out after suffering an ankle injury while away with Morocco and Christopher Buchtmann, who has scored three goals in four games, has picked up a similar knock in training.
So goals may be a concern for St Pauli, but things are much brighter for the hosts, who are playing in a more fluid style this season under manager Michael Kollner, who stepped up from the running the reserves to the first-team role in May.
Kollner has mixed up his formations in the early weeks but midfield pair Hanno Behrens and Kevin Mohwald have been consistently sharp, bagging five goals between them.
Nuremberg are a shade of odds-against to triumph but with Brazilian defender Ewerton in line to make his debut and St Pauli missing key men in attack, it's worth boosting those odds to a generous 14-5 that they win without conceding.
