No stopping St Mirren promotion charge

Free-scoring Saints look in great shape after Lewis Morgan boost

Ex-Hearts man Gavin Reilly has been in prolific form for St Mirren

St Mirren are going great guns in their bid to get to the Ladbrokes Premiership and they are worthy favourites to win at Dumbarton.

Jack Ross's side moved six points clear last week and received a huge boost as star player Lewis Morgan was signed by Celtic but loaned back to Saints for the rest of the season.

The talented young midfielder is easily the most gifted player in this division and his availability is a major bonus for St Mirren's promotion campaign.

Saints should have revenge on their mind after suffering a rare home loss to Dumbarton last month.

That was very much a shock result, though, and the Sons have struggled since with no wins in their last five games.

Goals are usually a problem for Stevie Aitken's men but that's not the case with Saints, who have 20-goal striker Gavin Reilly in their ranks. To see St Mirren chalked up at 4-5 is something of a surprise and that price that might not last long.

Inverness have sneaked under the radar in the same division and they can increase their chances of a playoff place by beating Queen of the South.

Caley Thistle started this campaign terribly and had just one league win, at hopeless Brechin, before the end of October.

Since then John Robertson has put his stamp on the team and they are starting to impress, particularly at the Caledonian Stadium.

Their 4-1 midweek dismantling of a Falkirk side who stunned Dundee United by thumping them 6-1 last week confirmed their potential.
South are inconsistent, although they can be dangerous.

This week veteran striker Derek Lyle complained about being forced out of Palmerston Park and that can't have helped morale under Gary Naysmith with the squad also struggling with injuries.

ICT would go level on points with South with a win and they can get the three points.

Airdrie were buoyed when their beleaguered club's takeover battle finally ended this week with Martin Ferguson, brother of Sir Alex, fronting the new board of the Lanarkshire club and they can win at Stranraer.

Of greater importance perhaps was the signing of prolific scorer Darryl Duffy on loan from St Mirren and he should be a huge addition.

Airdrie are unbeaten in six and can win at Stranraer, who have well-publicised financial problems of their own.
