Nice can maintain home dominance
Successive draws prior to the international break have hindered Nice’s title charge, but the high-flying Eaglets are unbeaten in Ligue 1 at the Allianz Riviera and can get back on the winning trail by beating Bordeaux.
Lucien Favre’s overachieving outfit have excelled on home soil and their imposing undefeated league record – stretching just over 13 months – has left them in a commanding position to earn Champions League football.
The hosts have suffered some damaging results on the road but they are a different breed in front of their own fans, dropping points in just four of their 15 matches. The league’s leading two – Monaco and PSG – were in cup final action this week and Favre will be hoping his side can reduce the gap at the top to four points.
Bordeaux have picked up in recent weeks and arrive in Nice having lost just twice in 12 Ligue 1 matches.
However, those defeats came against PSG (3-0) and Monaco (2-1) and it’s possible the visitors struggle to compete with top-class opposition.
Nice were held to a 2-2 draw by Caen in their most recent home fixture but they have had a congested schedule and a two-week break should be a positive.
Bordeaux are respected but this may be their toughest test yet and Nice represent fair value.
