Dallas Cowboys at New England Patriots

8.25pm Sunday

Dallas have lost their last six meetings with the New England Patriots but that run should come to an end on Sunday.

The Cowboys have been excellent on both sides of the ball this year and were it not for a Tom Brady late show in the Week One, they would be 5-0.

Dallas have boasted a high-powered offence for a couple of years now and that hasn’t changed - they are averaging 34 points per game this season - but they now have a resolute defence to compliment it.

The Cowboys' defence ranks sixth in total defence (DVOA) and has more than enough quality to shut down a limited New England offence.

The Patriots are not the Super Bowl-winning vintage of old and have already beaten three times at home this year - something which would have been unthinkable during the height of Bill Belichick and Brady’s NFL duopoly.

Rain prevented them from being blown away by Brady’s new team, the Bucs, in Week Four and is the only time they have covered the handicap at home this year. Dallas, who are 5-0 against the spread, should complete their work in routine fashion.

Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos

8.25pm Sunday

What a week it has been for the Raiders following head coach Jon Gruden’s decision to resign after the New York Times reported on Monday of the existence of emails sent by Gruden that included homophobic or misogynistic terms.

Rich Bisaccia has taken over and has work to do with Vegas having lost their last two matches after slumping to a 20-9 loss to the Bears last week.

A reaction to that defeat can be expected but they will struggle to stop Denver’s top receiver Cortland Sutton, who returned from a serious knee injury at the start of the season and has slowly been working his way back to the top of the Broncos’ depth chart.

He has led the team in targets and receptions in the last two weeks, recording seven catches on 11 targets against Pittsburgh. Only once in the last four weeks has he recorded fewer than five catches and can enjoy another productive afternoon against the Raiders.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

6pm Sunday

Carson Wentz and the Colts offence finally clicked on Monday night as the former Philadelphia Eagle threw for over 400 yards. Ultimately it didn’t count for much as Indianapolis lost to Baltimore but it was at least another step forward in the Wentz reclamation project.

It was also the fourth time this year he’s beaten his passing yards prop line and hopes are high he can repeat the trick against Houston.

The Texans are giving up an average of 267.2 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks and Wentz is likely to have the freedom to get his arm going against Houston, despite the Colts being a run-first team.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers

1.20am Monday

Najee Harris announced himself to the NFL public against Denver last week as he rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Despite a seemingly slow start to his professional career, Harris is only the seventh player in NFL history to have over 300 rushing yards and 195-plus receiving yards in his first five games, giving you an idea of the workload the Steelers are putting on him. With Pittsburgh’s offensive line finally creating some lanes for him, Harris should become a productive runner on a more consistent basis.

That is bad news for a Seattle defence ranked 31st against the run, giving up an average of 145.2 yards per game on the ground. Harris has passed his rushing-yards line the last two weeks and should cut deep into this Seahawks defence.
