Match preview

New England enter the playoffs at the wildcard stage for the first time in ten years after their shock 27-24 defeat to Miami last week saw them drop down to the number two seeds.

Having started the season with eight straight victories and a defence that looked impenetrable at times, they went on to lose four of their final eight with a couple of those wins being anything but easy.

The Titans, meanwhile, enter the playoffs in red-hot form after winning seven of their final ten games, which came about following the introduction of Ryan Tannehill as starting quarterback.

Their offence has been totally revitalised since his arrival but the plaudits have to go to running back Derrick Henry, who posted the most rushing yards in the league this season.

He was given the week off against New Orleans to recover from a hamstring issue, which looks a stroke of genius after he rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns against Houston last week.

Henry will no doubt be raring to go and it will be a big test for the Patriots defence to try to contain him.

But on the offensive side of things, you can never count out quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Julian Edelman for New England, and a high-scoring clash could be on the cards in Foxborough.
