There are a wealth of markets on every Super Bowl and for a stats-heavy sport every aspect of a player's performance can be dissected to a minute degree.

But if you don't know what the hell a nickel defence is or what constitutes an offensive pass-interference penalty, fear not as there are a host of novelty bets you can get involved in to get the most out of the NFL's end-of-season showpiece.

Bookmakers are keen to push you all the way through to the early hours and these markets are not the sort of thing to get heavily involved in. Indeed, the action starts well before the ball has even been kicked.

Demi Lovato takes the microphone to entertain the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with her rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner and Betfair and Paddy Power fancy she will get her act together and complete the task within two minutes and 4.5 seconds.

Such an eventuality is available at 1-3 but while lines in Las Vegas were reduced by nine seconds on Saturday after reports of a swift practice session, it may be worth having a small bet on the over 121.5 seconds that is 11-10 with Sky Bet.

Lovato is a veteran at this game who can list some big previous anthem gigs. She was on duty at the infamous Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor fight and during baseball's 2015 World Series and on both occasions she crushed the current line with a combination of unnecessarily elongated endings and hefty pauses between lines.

Take a chance she will enjoy her time in the limelight once more.

For many observers, the half-time show is more important than the game itself and Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will be providing the entertainment in Miami this year.

The difficulty in betting on which song will be sung first by the act is complicated by the fact there are two of them, so it is a bit of a minefield.

As She Wolf, one of Shakira's offerings is 4-7 to be the first song, it seems safe to assume she is kicking things off, but Paddy Power have a market featuring both artists.

Jenny from the Block may be interesting at 4-1 if Ms Lopez thinks people don't remember her 1990s pomp but it's difficult to justify even a half-hearted minuscle investment.

The winning coach traditionally has a barrel of energy drink poured over his head once the result is beyond doubt and there has been a massive plunge this week on it being a purple Gatorade shower, which is now as short as 4-6.

Maybe someone knows the delivery driver.
