Kansas City will need to find a way to win ugly if they are to remain the top seed in the AFC when they play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Seven straight wins have elevated the Chiefs to the summit of the conference at 10-4 but a Covid outbreak threatens to ruin their good run.

The reigning AFC champions are the latest team forced to place numerous players on their Covid-19 reserve list, including their top two receivers Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Both are expected to be absent but could return if passing the NFL's new Covid protocols.

The pair caught 22 of the 31 passes quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw in the Chiefs' Week 15 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, and without them head coach Andy Reid will need to come up with a new strategy.

Reid will likely lean on a much-improved defence, who haven't given up more than 20 points in six of their last seven games, for the visit of a Steelers team who can’t afford another loss if they are to stay in the playoff hunt.

Pittsburgh’s defence guided them to victory over the Tennessee Titans last time out and should ensure this is another tight battle between the sides - nine of the last ten meetings have been decided by ten points or fewer

The Steelers will need a complete performance to beat the Chiefs but can’t rely on their stuttering offence and Kansas City can grind out an eighth straight win.
