Patrick Mahomes magic can help Kansas City Chiefs stay ahead of the Chargers
Kansas QB may outduel Philip Rivers
Week 15
Sky Sports Action & Main Event, 1.20am Thursday night
Kansas City enjoyed a serene start to the season but they have been negotiating choppier waters as they prepare for their second clash of the season with the Chargers.
The Chiefs won 38-28 in California on the opening day of the season and have lost only twice since, both times in thrillers against elite outfits – 43-40 at New England and 54-51 in a record-breaking game against the other LA team, the Rams, in Week 11.
Their first major setback of the season was the release of star running back Kareem Hunt two weeks ago for disciplinary reasons and their top receiver Tyreek Hill picked up a heel problem in their overtime win over Baltimore last week but should be fit to start.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has emerged as a genuine star this season and the Chargers defence could be in for a tough night.

LA are only one win behind the Chiefs in the AFC West. They have also lost just twice since Week Two, with the Rams and the Broncos their conquerors.
Both teams might be down to their third-choice running backs. Justin Jackson could start for the Chargers with the speedy Austin Ekeler ruled out and top man Melvin Gordon struggling. Spencer Ware, who replaced Hunt as the Chiefs' starter, is doubtful so Damien Williams could lead their ground attack.
The Chiefs have won all six of their home games this season and their defence in particular seem to play better at Arrowhead than they do on the road.
The Chargers have notched notable away wins at Seattle and Pittsburgh, so they shouldn't be written off in one of the league's most hostile atmospheres, but the magical Mahomes may well conjure up enough points to outduel veteran Chargers QB Philip Rivers.
