Best bet
Jacksonville Jaguars -3 v Cincinnati Bengals

Jacksonville lost a tough defensive battle to New Orleans last week but Doug Marrone’s side look a good bet to bounce back when they take on Cincinnati.

Three of their four defeats this season have been by a touchdown or less, and since quarterback Gardner Minshew exploded on the scene they have looked a side on the cusp of competing with some of the top teams in the league.

With the visit to the winless Bengals they have a chance to get another victory on the board and based on what both sides have shown it could be a comfortable one.

The Jaguars’ efforts against Carolina and Denver showed their ability on offence to move the chains and score touchdowns, which will be bad news for a Cincinnati team whose defence is currently ranked second-worst in the league and is yet to hold an opponent to under 20 points.

In fairness to Zac Taylor, four of his side’s six defeats have been close ones but if Jacksonville’s defence is able to cope with the departure of Jalen Ramsey, then Cincinnati’s offence could be in for another frustrating day.

Next best bet
Miami Dolphins +17 v Buffalo Bills

Miami came close to securing their first win of the season last week against Washington, but a muffed two-point conversion saw those hopes go up in smoke.

However, since getting thumped in their first two games the Dolphins have shown steady progress and at least looked competitive in the first halves of their last three.

While they are unlikely to overcome a Buffalo team who are flying at the moment, there is reason to think they can keep pace with them.

The Bills’ 4-1 record is largely down to the efforts of their defence, which has conceded the second-fewest points in the AFC behind New England. Amazingly, they have scored the third-fewest points in their conference, averaging 18 per game.

While you can’t rule out Buffalo’s defence finding the endzone, it is a tall order for them to win by such a high margin considering three of their wins have been by a single score.

Best points bet
Over 43.5 points in Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions

Minnesota and Detroit’s offences have been firing lately and that could lead to an entertaining clash in this NFC North divisional match.

Detroit suffered a frustrating defeat to Green Bay last Monday, but quarterback Matthew Stafford had a great game connecting with top receiver Kenny Golladay and running back Kerryon Johnson has improved markedly from last season.

Minnesota’s defence has been rigid but their offence is finally starting to find rhythm as well, having scored 66 points across their last two games with Kirk Cousins throwing six touchdowns. Running back Dalvin Cook also boasts the fourth-most rushing yards in the league.

Both sides need a win to keep pace in their division and have the quality to turn this into a high-scoring affair.

Best player bet
Cooper Kupp to score a touchdown in LA Rams at Atlanta Falcons

The Rams offence was well held by the 49ers last week, but should have better luck against the Falcons and Cooper Kupp is fancied to find the endzone.

Atlanta have conceded 87 points in their last two games, of which eight were receiving touchdowns, and look vulnerable to a player like Kupp who has registered four 100-yard receiving games and four touchdowns in his last five matches.
