Free American football tips, best bets and analysis for Week Nine of the 2021 NFL season.

Blink and you might have missed the first half of the 2021 NFL regular season as the campaign reaches its midway point in Week Nine.

There’s no time to take stock of what we’ve seen so far though with another jam-packed Sunday slate to enjoy featuring 13 games.

Chris Rivers returns with another fourfold accumulator from Sunday’s matches which pays out at over 8-1 with bet365.

Dallas Cowboys -8 v Denver Broncos
Cleveland Browns +3 v Cincinnati Bengals
New England Patriots -2.5 v Carolina Panthers
Los Angeles Chargers -1.5 v Philadelphia Eagles

All bets must be placed by 6pm.

Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys

Only one team has a perfect 7-0 record against the spread this season and that’s the Dallas Cowboys. America’s Team found a way to win without Dak Prescott when getting the better of the Minnesota Vikings in Week Eight but are expected to have Prescott back for this game. The Cowboys are averaging over 32 points per game with Prescott in the line-up and that average jumps up to 40 points for home matches.

The Broncos can’t compete with those figures, their offence having averaged fewer than 20 points per game this season. The strength of this team has been the defence but that has been significantly weakened by the decision to trade away Von Miller and Denver look in for a long evening in Texas.

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals

Cleveland have won five of the last six meetings with Cincinnati and are in desperate need of another victory over their divisional rivals to keep the AFC North close. Both teams suffered disappointing defeats in Week Eight - the Bengals crashing and burning with a shock reverse to the New York Jets while the Browns lost a close one to Pittsburgh

Cincinnati’s explosive offence has blown away teams at times this year but Cleveland aren’t often played off the park and they can keep the ball out of Joe Burrow's hands by controlling the possession via their number one ranked rushing attack. That should help the Browns to improve on their record of covering the spread in four of their last five away games.

New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers

After a sluggish start, the Patriots have got their act together, winning two straight to get to 4-4. New England impressively knocked off the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday thanks to a combination of a strong running game and a tight defence.

That defence could keep a lid on a Panthers team that has fallen off a cliff offensively the last five weeks. Carolina’s passing game is now ranked 29th in the league, forcing them to run the ball more, which could prove tricky this week against a Patriots defence that has a respectable record of stopping the run. With doubts over who will start at quarterback for Carolina too, it’s difficult to see how they’ll put up enough points to stop New England winning and covering.

Los Angeles Chargers at Philadelphia Eagles

After two straight defeats, the Chargers should get back to winning ways against a mediocre Philadelphia Eagles team. The Bolts have covered the spread in four of their last five away games and competing at Lincoln Field isn’t as daunting a prospect as it has been in previous years with the Eagles winless at home in three attempts.

Philadelphia battered the winless Detroit Lions last week but have lost 14 of their previous 17 meetings against teams with a winning record and they could struggle to contain the Chargers rushing attack. The Bolts showed some improvements with their ability to contain the run in the loss to the Patriots and if they can cut off that supply line, the damage the Eagles can inflict will be severely limited.
