Game preview

Tampa Bay are probably a little further away from being Super Bowl contenders than their status as third favourites and market leaders to win the NFC suggests, but they should make no mistake against the struggling New York Giants on Monday night.

While Tampa Bay (5-2) remain a work in progress with superstar Tom Brady at quarterback, the Giants (1-6) are not making any real progress at all.

This is their first game outside the hapless NFC East - in which none of the four teams had more than two wins heading into Week Eight - for four weeks and they should struggle with the abrupt rise in class.

That said, the handicap for this game has risen a full four points from its opening mark of 8.5 and backing the Buccaneers to cover the huge line is not so attractive, particularly as the Giants have covered the spread in their last four games.

With star running back Saquon Barkley already sidelined, the Giants have also lost his replacement, Devonta Freeman, to injury, meaning third-stringer Wayne Gallman will start.

Gallman looked lively enough after Freeman went off against the Eagles last week, scoring a touchdown, and he looks a decent price to add another, albeit in a likely losing cause.
