Auburn Tigers at LSU Tigers preview

The second-ranked LSU Tigers can roar loudest as they welcome the Auburn Tigers into their den.

Louisiana State are unbeaten, recently cruising to victory against a Mississippi State side Auburn had similarly dispatched two weeks before.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow's excellent campaign continues and has firmly put himself into contention for the Heisman Trophy with 2,484 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Bo Nix has shown glimpses of excellence in his first season as a starting quarterback while leading Auburn to a 6-1 start, their only defeat coming against Georgia.

However, Nix's performances fall off a cliff statistically away from the comforts of Jordan-Hare Stadium, and he could be in for a long night in Baton Rouge.

In his three road games, Nix has only completed 54 per cent of his passes for a total of 421 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions, and he now faces one of the nations best secondaries.

Auburn are stout in defence but have conceded 20 or more points in three of their last four games, and have yet to face an offence quite like LSU's.

Burrow is electric and importantly he doesn't turn over the ball, whereas turnovers have become an issue for Nix.

The Tigers will look to continue their hot start to the season, taking the scalp of another ranked team as they head into a week's break before a mouthwatering clash against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Kansas State Wildcats at Oklahoma Sooners

The fifth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners continue their playoff push as they travel to Kansas to face the 4-2 Wildcats, and head there as 23.5-point favourites.

The Jalen Hurts-led Sooners offence has been a joy to watch this season, with explosive play after explosive play, seeing them score an average 47.2 points per game.

Kansas State are averaging 26.4 points themselves, but have been hit-and-miss, largely depending on the play of dual-threat quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Thompson's play-extending ability is key to the Wildcats' offence, and he's had much greater success at Bill Snyder Stadium than on his travels, completing 64 per cent of his passes for 753 yards and six touchdowns.

While the Sooners are expected to dominate proceedings from the outset, They have conceded at least 14 points in each game this season, the majority of which have come in the second half, and the Wildcats should have enough on offence to reach that mark.

The Wildcats have struggled against the run this year, most notably when Oklahoma State's Chukka Hubbard ran for 298 yards against them three weeks ago.

They now have they the inconceivable task of halting the second-best ground attack in the nation, who are averaging 274 yards per game.

Oklahoma are the far superior side, and only Texas have prevented them from scoring 45 or more points this season. The Sooners could run riot once more, with the Wildcats picking up some points late on.
