The Philadelphia Eagles ended the Kansas City Chiefs' two-year reign as Super Bowl champions in New Orleans last season and Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and the rest of Nick Sirianni's team are among the leading contenders in their bid to keep hold of the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

However, there are a host of rivals queuing up to challenge the Eagles, with the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills among those at the forefront of the betting for Super Bowl LX.

The Chiefs, with superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in their corner, will be keen to regain the title while NFC North rivals Green Bay and Detroit will hope to take a leap forward and become genuine contenders.

2025 NFL season preview

The Baltimore Ravens came desperately close to reaching last year's AFC Championship game and they look to have all the tools needed to mount another run at Super Bowl glory in 2025.

John Harbaugh's team finished the 2024 season as the leading offence, averaging 424.9 yards per game, some 15 more than the Detroit Lions. Thanks to their sturdy offensive line and the excellence of running back Derrick Henry, the Ravens were the leading rushing offence in the league, and there are no signs of them slowing down this season.

Ravens look primed for another Lombardi run

In Harbaugh, the Ravens have one of the best coaches in the NFL and he has continued to get the best out of quarterback Lamar Jackson, who will be one of the leading MVP candidates if he stays healthy.

While offensive tackle Josh Jones decided to join the Seattle Seahawks in the off-season, the Ravens moved quickly to tie down fellow lineman Ronnie Stanley. With Pro Bowlers Stanley and Tyler Linderbaum on the Ravens' line, Henry will feel he can make more inroads on the ground and their rushing attack should be just as deadly.

Defensively, the Ravens have one of the best secondaries, if not the best, and they added Jaire Alexander to start alongside Marlon Humphrey and Kyle Hamilton, while linebacker Roquan Smith is still one of the best in his position.

The Ravens finished the 2024 campaign at the top of the AFC North thanks to their 12-5 record and they only lost 27-25 to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Baltimore have been handed a tough opening six matches, as they face the Bills, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, but if they can navigate that period, they then have a full month on home soil, including their bye week.

Harbaugh tempted wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to join his team in the off-season and the Ravens look primed for another run at the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The Ravens are the joint-favourites for the Super Bowl alongside the Bills, but it is fellow AFC outfit, the Cincinnati Bengals, who offer good value further down the pecking order.

Don't rule out Burrow and the Bengals

Cincinnati failed to reach the playoffs in 2024, despite finishing the season with a 9-8 record. While they play in the same division as the Ravens, they should be able to finish second.

The Pittsburgh Steelers look good value to miss out in a rare setback for coach Mike Tomlin, and their decision to sign veteran Aaron Rodgers looks a major gamble after two poor years with the New York Jets.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow led the league in passing yards last season and his combination with Ja'Marr Chase is the best in the league. Their defence was their Achilles heel last season, but they finally tied rusher Trey Hendrickson to a new one-year contract and there's a sense that the Bengals are going all in. Tee Higgins, Mike Gesicki and Chase were all given new deals to keep Burrow's receiver room intact, while the addition of defensive pair Shemar Stewart and Demetrius Knight in the draft should help them compete more without the ball.

Burrow and co have come close in the past to going all the way and the minor tweaks to their roster should help them bounce back.

In the NFC, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look the value shout ahead of reigning champions Philadelphia and the Detroit Lions.

The Bucs beat both in the regular season in 2024, before losing 23-20 in the Wildcard Round to the Washington Commanders.

Tampa should win the NFC South with relative ease and although they have a new offensive coordinator in Josh Grizzard, quarterback Baker Mayfield should be able to adapt.

Grizzard was Tampa's pass-game coordinator in 2024, so he and Mayfield are familiar with each other, and the addition of wide receiver Emeke Egbuka should take the pressure off Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr.

The Bucs stuffed the run last year and if edge Haason Reddick can roll back the years, Tampa should get their offence on the field more in 2025.Tampa should learn their lessons from 12 months ago and Mayfield, if he can limit his interceptions, may finally get his moment in the spotlight after a chaotic career.
