Newport can be kings of the counties

Lincoln should bury Bury

Newport County defend a corner against Barnet
1 of 1

Newport v Notts County
Newport County are on a four-game winning streak at home in Sky Bet League Two and they can extend that run to five by seeing off hapless Notts County at Rodney Parade.

Michael Flynn’s men have had a tough start to the season with matches against Mansfield and Exeter, so a four-point haul – they have beaten Crewe 1-0 and drew at St James’s Park on Saturday – has to count as a fair return. They've also recorded a 4-1 romp at Cambridge in the League Cup

Their form is in stark contrast to Notts County’s. Magpies chief Kevin Nolan admits his side aren’t playing well and look disorganised, although he couldn’t have said anything else after the abject way in which they crashed 4-0 at home to Yeovil last time out.

They are without a win in eight, a run which sandwiches a poor pre-season, and last season’s beaten playoff semi-finalists simply haven’t strengthened in key areas over the summer.

Lincoln v Bury
Lincoln have finally dropped points – held 1-1 at rivals Grimsby on Saturday – but they can return to winning ways against Bury, also in League Two.

The Imps have lost only once at home since the middle of November and should overpower Bury.

Relegated Bury have chalked up a solitary win, a 1-0 success at home to a Yeovil side who were down to nine men when Gold Amatoyo popped in the only goal.

Their only other point came against Forest Green on Saturday when, once again, they needed the opponents to be short-handed – Gavin Greening was sent off for Rovers in the 76th minute – before finding the net.

The message seems to be that if Lincoln keep 11 men on the pitch, they win.

AFC Wimbledon v Walsall
The Dons, Racing Post Sport's pre-season tip to be Sky Bet League One’s lowest scorers, are doing backers proud with one goal in three starts.

They’ve failed to score in their last two and such impotence makes them vulnerable at home to Walsall, who look a decent price.

Wimbledon have won only one of their last six at home in the league and while they don’t lose many, they are up against a Walsall side whose spirits are soaring.

The Saddlers were pretty much written off by everyone as soon as Erhun Oztumer trotted off to Bolton in the summer. But former Villa midfielder Isaiah Osbourne and Morgan Ferrier, who boss Dean Keates took a punt on from Boreham Wood, have helped to sharpen up the squad.
