Newcastle can prove a nuisance to hosts Northampton
Sarto and Reidy could be fruitful Pro14 tryscorer bets
Northampton v Newcastle
BT Sport 1, 7.45pm Friday
Northampton and Newcastle are in danger of falling off the Premiership top-four pace after following fine starts to the campaign with four successive league defeats.
However, it would not be surprising if this televised contest at Franklin's Gardens is a ding-dong battle and the visiting Falcons are taken to stay within ten points.
Newcastle sneaked past the Saints at the Gardens last season courtesy of a Niki Goneva try and they stormed past them at Kingston Park when faced with a 24-10 half-time deficit.
Gloucester and Wasps, the last two teams to beat the Falcons, are starting to fire while before that their reverses were against Leicester and current leaders and champions Exeter.
The Saints will be glad of home comforts and the return of several internationals and Rob Horne from a ban after a hard-fought loss at Sale followed a woeful defeat at Worcester. They also found it impossible to contain Wasps in front of the Gardens faithful last month.
In the Pro14, Conference A pacesetters Glasgow are 1-12 to make it a perfect ten wins out of ten when they host Cardiff (BBC Alba, 7.35pm) and they are tempting to give up 16 points on the handicap, with the visitors enduring an injury crisis.
However, with the Blues moving up to fourth in the standings, a wager on home left wing Leonardo Sarto to score a fourth try of the campaign looks better value.
Sean Reidy looks a big price to cross the whitewash for Ulster at Dragons (BBC2 NI & Wales & TG4, 7.35pm).
Both teams are proving difficult to gauge this season but the Ulster back-rower has touched down in his last two games and loves to get on the scoresheet.
