New York City can take three points from trip to Seattle

Struggling Sounders have given support little shout for

New York City's Ismael Tajouri

Sky Sports Football, 10pm Sunday

Four successive wins have put New York City into a strong position near the top of the Eastern Conference and and Domenec Torrent's side look value to claim another three points at the expense of Western Conference strugglers Seattle at CenturyLink Field.

Only two of City's nine victories this season have come on the road but one of those came on Thursday as they won 2-0 at Orlando.

Their recent upsurge has been achieved without the help of injured striker David Villa, who has been sidelined with a knee injury for five matches.

Villa's absence has allowed City to showcase their strength in depth.

Maximiliano Moralez, Jesus Medina and Anton Tinnerholm have each scored two goals in the July fixtures and Torrent has the option of reinstating eight-goal winger Ismael Tajouri, who recovered from a muscle strain to feature as a substitute in the midweek triumph over Orlando.

Everything is in place for City to continue their surge and Seattle may struggle to cope, despite going into the match as favourites.

The Sounders finished second in the Western Conference last term and reached the MLS Cup semi-finals but they have taken steps backwards in 2018.

Clint Dempsey, their top scorer last season, has scored just one goal in 14 appearances and Seattle's general lack of firepower has been obvious and they have scored just 19 goals in 20 MLS matches.

They are the lowest scorers in the league although there has been a recent improvement at the back which has underpinned a five-match unbeaten sequence.

There is still an outside chance of Seattle bridging the seven-point gap to the top six but they need to improve their home results, having won only three of nine games on native soil.

Seattle are always well supported with a minimum of 39,000 fans turning up for home games this season but they have not had much to shout about and may have to stomach another defeat this weekend.
