New-look Falkirk should have too much for East Fife

Top tips for Saturday's big matches in Scotland

Falkirk manager Paul Hartley

Matches 3pm Saturday

Falkirk are a work in progress, but they can win their Betfred Cup tie at East Fife on Saturday.

Manager Paul Hartley took some time to overhaul a struggling squad, but there were signs towards the end of last season that he was beginning to get it right.

In addition, he has brought in 13 new players this summer, with Northern Ireland international Paul Paton and Chelsea and Scotland Under-21 star Ruben Sammut the most eye-catching.

It's going to take time for his influx of new players to fit in and they've had a mixed bag of results in this competition - their last game saw them narrowly lose at Ladbrokes Premiership side St Johnstone.

They face East Fife in Methil and the New Bayview outfit struggle to score goals, having netted just once in their three games.

But the Bairns are a division above Fife and they should have too much for them.

Saturday's card is crammed full of short-priced favourites and could again be a minefield with teams treating these games as pre-season friendlies in some cases.

But Stranraer should be too good for leaky Edinburgh City.
The Stair Park outfit held Ladbrokes Premiership outfit Motherwell to a draw before beating them in a shootout.

They also netted three times at Queen of the South before losing 5-3, so they should be confident of scoring at Ainslie Park on their visit to the capital.

City have conceded nine goals in their last two games to Motherwell and Queen of the South and are already out of the competition.

Morton should add to Albion Rovers' recent woes with a comfortable victory at Cappielow.

Ray McKinnon's team have taken some time to sort themselves out after a few injuries, but there were signs of improvement in the second half of a defeat at Partick Thistle and their win against Stenhousemuir.

They should cover the handicap against the Coatbridge side who struggle generally but especially on the road.
