NBA Finals Game Five predictions

Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers have served up a fascinating NBA Finals series so far, with the score locked at 2-2 going into Game Five on Monday night.

With home advantage, Oklahoma City are the clear favourites and should take the lead for the first time after this match-up but their short odds for victory and a hefty -9.5 handicap hold little appeal.

The better betting angle could be focusing on the player markets and a couple of options stand out.

There aren’t many players in this series who have won rings previously but Thunder guard Alex Caruso and Pacers forward Pascal Siakam are NBA Championship winners, with the Lakers in 2020 and Toronto Raptors in 2019 respectively. That experience has shown in this series with both raising their levels and they can make key contributions again.

Caruso averaged a modest 7.1 points per game in the regular season but he’s had two 20-point matches in the Finals. Caruso has scored at least 11 points in three of the four match-ups in the series and over 10.5 looks like a target he can reach.

Tyrese Haliburton is Indiana’s assist specialist but Siakam has been chipping in over the course of the playoffs. The Cameroonian has had at least four in each of his last three games and the odds-against price on over 3.5 in Game Five is worth taking.
