All the stats point to CSKA Moscow beating Zenit St Petersburg at home in the battle of the EuroLeague Russian heavyweights.

After all, the Muscovites were 4-0 against their northern foe last season and beat them as recently as last month to win the VTB Super Cup.

But it's early days in the season and of the two playoff contenders it's Zenit who have started the better and look like they possess a game to be able, at the very least, to cover a 7.5 point spread.

Zenit are 2-0 with solid road wins in Kazan against UNICS and Lithuania against Zalgiris. They are built on defense having allowed under 70 points in both games to date.

They know they'll have to be aggressive to stifle CSKA's in-form frontcourt, led by Week 2 MVO Toko Shengelia, but CSKA, minus points machine Mike James, haven't totally convinced in their two outings to date.

The eight-time champions were beaten in Milan in their opener and if they let former Raptors' ace Jordan Loyd get into a rhythm then this could well be seriously close.
