Kings XI Punjab v Mumbai Indians
Sky Sports 2, 3.30pm Thursday

In their bid to become the first IPL franchise to win three titles, Mumbai Indians will be buoyed by their impressive start.

Four wins from their first five outings have seen Mumbai draw level with fellow hat-trick seekers Kolkata Knight Riders at the top of the table and bookmakers expect Rohit Sharma’s side to take top spot for their own with victory over the Kings XI Punjab.

Indeed, were it not for Pune skipper Steve Smith’s match-winning 84 in Mumbai’s opener which they lost with just a ball to spare, Sharma’s men would be heading into today’s clash with a perfect record.

On current form they are the likelier victors in Indore and at 3-4 still rate fair value.

Mumbai’s undoubted strength lies in their batting line-up, which has arguably been the most destructive on show in this year’s competition.

With the likes of Sharma, Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya in the ranks, maximums are guaranteed and so it is has proved as Mumbai have hit more sixes than their opponents in each of their five outings.

And their power-packed line-up should relish playing at the Holkar Stadium, where the small boundaries are tailor-made for six-hitting as demonstrated by the 35 that have been hit there in two matches.
