Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings

TV: BT Sport 3 & Star Gold, 3pm Tuesday

MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who finished first and second in the league stage of the IPL season, meet in the first qualifier of the playoffs.

Mumbai are nominally the home team after topping the table on net run rate from Chennai and Delhi but the game takes place at the Super Kings' home ground.

The MA Chidambaram Stadium's spin-friendly wickets have foxed most visiting teams this season but Mumbai were an exception, bowling out their hosts for 109 to complete a league double over Chennai.

The Super Kings were without MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Faf du Plessis for that fixture and with them back in the side bookmakers are struggling to pick a favourite.

IPL playoff schedule
Tuesday
Qualifier 1: Mumbai v Chennai

Wednesday
Eliminator: Delhi v Hyderabad

Friday
Qualifier 2: Losers of Qualifier 1 v Winners of Eliminator

Sunday
Final (Hyderabad)

Du Plessis finished the league stage with his best score of the season although his 96 off 55 balls came in a losing cause against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali.

His methodical approach has worked well on the tricky pitches in Chennai, where he has made 54, 45 not out, one and 39 in four appearances this term, and he looks a tempting price to top-score.

The winners of this game go straight into Sunday's final while the losers will have another crack at qualifying on Friday, when they face either Delhi or Hyderabad, who meet in Wednesday's eliminator.

Recommendation
F du Plessis top Chennai runscorer
