Lewis Hamilton is 1-2 to claim his sixth Formula One world championship after winning the Spanish Grand Prix - his third victory in the five races this season.

Hamilton beat his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who started on pole position, as they maintained their record of taking 1-2 finishes in every race.

The Briton also claimed the bonus point for the fastest lap and now leads Bottas by seven points in the championship.

The Finn is a 3-1 chance to claim his first title.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen beat the Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc to third place. The Dutchman regained third in the standings, two points ahead of Vettel but he is already 46 adrift of Hamilton.

Monaco is next on the calendar on May 26. Red Bull and Ferrari and taken the fight to Mercedes on the twisty street circuit in recent years, but this season's Silver Arrows have looked more nimble in tight corners.
