Rally Poland
Starts 6.08pm Thursday

Thierry Neuville looks the right favourite for this week's Rally Poland and is well worth a bet at 5-2.

The Belgian, who sits 18 points behind leader Sebastien Ogier in the standings, retired from the lead of the first two events of the year but has been on the podium in every event since, including wins in France and Argentina.

Neuville was challenging for victory in Sardinia last time until brake issues cost the Hyundai driver over a minute and he had to settle for third.

Ott Tanak claimed his maiden win in Sardinia, and has an excellent record in Poland. The Estonian led the event in 2014 and 2015 and was robbed of victory last year by a puncture in the final stage, which saw him overhauled by Andreas Mikkelsen.

Mikkelsen started this season without a full-time drive, but he has more outings with Citroen after a steady debut with the team in Sardinia.

Kris Meeke, who was vying for championship favouritism at the start of the season, is to sit out the rally following a spate of crashes. The Northern Irishman rolled his Citroen out of the lead in Sardinia.
