Take on favourite Ott Tanak with in-form Finn Teemu Suninen
Rally Finland: Stage one
BT Sport 3, 6pm Thursday
Ott Tanak was deprived of a third straight victory by a power steering failure in the final stage in Sardinia last time.
He still took the championship lead by finishing fifth, however, and the Estonian is favourite to get back on the winning trail by defending his Rally Finland crown this week.
There are a number of potential winners, though, on the super fast forest roads which have traditionally favoured local drivers.
Tanak's Toyota teammate Jari-Matti Latvala is a three-time winner in Finland. However, he has had a wretched season and two fifth-place finishes are his best results.
Esapekka Lappi, the winner in 2017, threw away his chance of a repeat by stalling on an early stage last year, but put in a late charge with three straight stage victories before he crashed out on stage 20.
The Citroen driver's recent form is pretty poor but he was second in Sweden early in the year and could be overpriced.
However, the best bet looks to be Teemu Suninen. The Ford driver has plenty of experience of these roads and is in the form of his life.
Second place in Italy last time was his fifth consecutive top-seven finish, and with teammates Elfyn Evans (injury) and Hayden Paddon (wrecked car in testing) missing the event, Suninen will get the full attention of the team.
Recommendation
T Suninen
